These days, this generation of the Terios would be more suited to city driving or beginner drivers. It’s a neat and tidy little car that doesn’t cost much to buy or run and is really easy to drive and manoeuvre. Though it looks small from the outside, there’s actually a decent amount of passenger space inside and it is pretty comfortable. To drive, it’s a fairly competent performer. The handling is decent, the steering feels a bit light but this is usually the case in 4x4s, and visibility is fine throughout. You won’t be spoilt for choice when it comes to engine choice with only one petrol version available, but it is a decent engine. Daihatsu claim that it is the cleanest engine in its class in terms of CO2 emissions. It is also excellent on fuel consumption.

•  Unlikely to have been used off-road but it is worth checking the suspension for heavy use

•  It’s easy to drive and manoeuvre

•  There’s a decent amount of passenger space inside

•  It does have some off-road capability

•  The ride quality can be a bit on the firm side

•  It’s just not built for long distance travelling
